Calico Kitten
Designs is so happy to welcome Country Chatter Newsletter to our website.
The newsletter is just my way of sharing my part of the world with
everyone, and helping people with their businesses. I am hoping to make
the world just a little bit better for a couple minutes, to bring a laugh
or a smile to your face and just a way of saying thanks.
So much has
happen since the last newsletter, we moved to another website and closed
down Country Chatter's website but... the newsletter is back. A lot
has happen in my life, too. I had the perfect
job and hoped to stay there until I retired. I was the bookkeeper
for three craft stores out here
in the valley and being a crafter, it was perfect. Two of the stores
closed down last fall, the owners
wanted to retire in three years but the owners of the buildings did not
want to sign leases for just
three years, so the stores closed. One store was left and it is
closing down now, and my perfect job
was ending. My boss was wonderful, most of the time the people were
wonderful, made some great
friends, got to see the new products before they hit the stores and got to
wear jeans to work. I had
been designing their website at home and that was shut down, so I had to
find another source of
income for my car payments, so now I work at The Home Depot on the
weekends. The Friday that
the warehouse closed down was very sad, Joanie and I kept hoping that it
was just a dream but....
On the following Monday, I started a new job as Office Manager for a
Millwork Company, so I am
working 7 days a week and football season is coming!!!!!!!!
Speaking of Football, my Bears will be here for a Monday night game.
The Cardinals has a new
stadium, which is about 5 miles from my house and the first time in the
history of the Arizona
Cardinals, every game is sold out including my Bears' game.
So.......... we will be watching
it on the big TV in the living room and cheering them on.
The month of
July was HOT out here and the rest of the country got to share with us all
our heat. I am so thankful that we got a new air conditioner last
year but it is cooling off.... |

Late
August
by Adelaide Dyson
How can we make the shadows dance?
How can we forestall the chill to come,
when even now the mornings
begin so crisp?
Summer yearns
to linger....
not wanting to fade into fall.
Luscious pinks and vibrant blues
unashamedly flaunt one final burst
in the face of autumn's enveloping
orange and rusty blaze:
translucent yellows
(rivaled only by sunlight)
oppose the deep full yellow
of a falling leaf.
How can we
make the song bird sing?
How can we capture time?
(And hold it a gentle prisoner.)
If only in our garden
of Remembrance..... |

Activities
Around the Valley
This is for my friends who need a little reminder about what is going
on around my part of the world.
Well, the heat has hit the Valley and this is the time of the year, when
everyone heads up north
to the "High Country" or over to San Diego to "cool" off and only the
brave ones go
out in the heat but the nights are soooooo nice.
Time to take a class or two at the Park District or your local craft shop
The month of
August is usually really quiet around here but......get ready for
September
everything happens.

This is Pal's Forever in Downtown Glendale -
one of our favorite shops

Crafter's Corner
Calico Kitten Designs
will be having their "Grand Opening" in September. My tower died on
my computer and I spent more
than two weeks looking for a new one and talking to salespeople who knew
NOTHING about computers. I knew what I
wanted and it was like I was speaking a different language from them but I
have a new one now.
If you are in the Phoenix area and are interested in any shows, please get
in touch with the kittens at
admin@calicokittendesigns.com and they will be more than happy to send
you a list of shows.
I would still
like to start a Quilting Club for quilters or anyone who would like to
give it a try.
I want to start a mailing list of people who would be interested in doing
this. Each month, you will send to one person on the list, four 5 inch
squares of fabric of one theme. We will do this for 3 months with one
theme and then choose another theme for the next 3 months. At the end of
the three months, please design something with your fabric and send me a
photo and I will put it in the newsletter with your name and website. If
you are interested in doing this, please email the staff at
Admin@calicokittendesigns.com
and please put quilts in the message line.
Bear is in
charge of link exchanges and was wondering if anyone would like to
exchange links with Calico Kitten Designs.
You can get in touch with him at
admin@calicokittendesigns.com and he will be more than happy to sent
you ours.
